Food for Thought

At the June 1st service I peeked from behind the altar and saw the line of graduates stretch across the whole front of the church. As they take the next steps in their lives we pray they keep in touch with God.

To help that happen nine talented and giving women presented quilts which they had created and personalized to individual graduates. They were given to those who had earlier indicated their desire of such a gift. What a generous thing to do! Thank you Bev Chadwick, Darlene Meyer, Ruby Keller, Dawn Folker, Julianna Nitz, Linda Nitz, Liz Butterbrodt, Tina Schultz, and Susanne Nickolai-Mays.

Also generous in giving time and commitment are the Vacation Bible School workers: Dina Dretske, Janis Boutin and their crew. Also thanks to church members who donated needed items posted on the donation board. VBS helps keep God in children’s lives during the summer. May we all do the same.

Thankful for generous and committed people,

                                                Millie, the church mouse

Once again, it’s vacation season and I’m visiting Millie for the summer. I noticed things were a bit different, as two talented members, who are very active in many activities, are missing due to “youthful” repairs!

After seeing the thirsty plants, one chair open in Bible study, prayer group, women’s circle, and the book club, I suspected something was amiss! Come to find out, Lois Stark had shoulder surgery and is home recuperating. That means one less choir member, one less helper for altar guild, and one less writer for the  history of the church and numerous other selfless volunteer responsibilities. Knowing Lois’ spirit, this is just a temporary inconvenience!

Then, on Crafters’ Night, I noticed another familiar face missing-Donna Kirk-who had hip surgery. She is the person most people talk to  when calling the church about countless things. The first impression of Grace is always positive because of Donna’s smile and warm welcome in the office. She “wears many hats” and things always run smoother when Donna is around!

We wish them both a very speedy recovery!

                                    Peace,

                                    Marvin, the visiting church mouse
