Farewell Reception for Intern Pastor Ben and Jenny Loven
Sunday, August 3 9:00AM Worship and Reception
August 3rd will be the last Sunday of internship at Grace for Ben. Ben will return to Luther Seminary for one more year of study.
The congregation council is serving the reception, and a card box will be available to thank and to wish Ben and Jenny God’s blessings. COLLEGE ADDRESSES Attention: Students & Parents, The “We Care” committee sends devotional materials and finds writers to send cards & letters to college students away at school IF we have college addresses. For those already in college, we need current addresses to continue to write. Please get these “away from home” addresses to Donna/Andrea in the church office by calling or emailing, or to Lois Stark or Margaret Draeger. We are always in need of writers, so if you, as a member of the Grace family, would like to serve in this way, please let one of us know. Thank you. Margaret Draeger (748-7017) Family and Youth Ministry Update The Family and Youth Ministry Committee has been hard at work discerning the call God has made to Grace Lutheran. We have had three meetings as well as taken a trip to visit First English Lutheran and Christ the King Lutheran churches in the Appleton area to see how they are doing youth and family ministry. We have also received preliminary approval from the Church Council and look to have things in place when school begins again in the Fall. More details will come as they are formalized. If you have any questions please feel free to speak with any of the committee members: Sue Shemanski, Anita Lind, Michelle Moe, Elaine Leigh, Tim Koch, and Intern Pastor Ben. We ask for continued prayers during this exciting time! Thank you! ********* *A first draft meeting for the congregation’s input will be on Wednesday, July 16 and Sunday July 20 after each worship service in the library. Come share your thoughts and ideas regarding this first draft for the Family and Youth Ministry position. *********** LWR COFFEE PROJECT Coffees, teas, and chocolate are available in the library through the Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project! Check them out! Profits earned through the Equal Exchange program allow farmers to stay on their land and educate their children, which helps eliminate poverty long-term. Because Equal Exchange buys directly from farmer cooperatives, the process eliminates many of the middlemen in the traditional trading network. SOUL FOOD VOLUNTEERS
I would like
to thank the many people who helped Soul Food run so smoothly. There are
so many of you that I cannot begin to list the names in fear of leaving
someone out. There were shoppers, cooks, bakers, servers, and those who
cleaned up afterwards. Many of you that couldn’t help with your time or
talents helped us with the finances. People from all over our community
also shared what they could to make things great for the high school
kids who attended so faithfully every week! LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF JULY & AUGUST PROJECTS
